    Not this year

    24th September 2006

aflcup.jpgWow. It sure looks like I was holding my breathe for Fremantle, but the truth is that I have been sidetracked by much that was going on in my life, and have not had the energy to keep up this blog. In any case, the Dockers put up a strong courageous Finals campaign only to go down to the Sydney Swans in the Preliminary Finals. Maybe next year.. In the meantime I am setting the blog colors back to its orginal blue.

    It’s not as it seems…

    8th August 2006

79521-jpg.gifI do have a blog tenant.

However, there is no image currently displaying in the space on my sidebar, that’s probably because the blog is new to BlogExplosion or because the image is being refreshed at BE. In any case, my tenant is “The Blunt Prophet”.

He has an interesting blog, looks like quite a new one, in which he shares about his life and his aspiration to live out his life’s calling. That part of his profile that grabbed me is his description of himself as someone who strives to display all the qualities of God’s love and that he is acquainted with grief and brokenness. I think this is one prophet you will one to get to know. I look forward to getting to know him myself.

So, please make him feel welcome, get over to his blog and say “Hi!” letting him know you came from …in the outer…

Send Me Some “Favorite” Technorati Luv

    27th July 2006

love_hearts.jpgWas snooping around Technorati today and saw a few brand new features (correction: newly noticed features, since the features might have been there for a little while, but I only noticed it today).

Included in the features that I noticed was this one: you can mark blogs that you like as your “favorites”, and the blog owner can then go to their “favorited” folder and feel the love. It’s easy, just click on this image here favorite-this-blog.png and you will have mark this blog as your favorite on Technorati, and then you will show up in my “favorited” folder.

Please do it, for I feel rather unloved, since the folder is empty as of right now! :)

    Blackout

    23rd July 2006

blackout_candle.jpgUPDATE: Someone reminded me that what we experienced here was not a “rolling black-out” but instead was a rude interruption to services. Since the blackout, my washing machine broke (it doesn’t spin anymore) and one of my microwave oven blew out. So, I could claim compensation from the power company. So, whatdya think?

It has happened before here in California during the anarchical days of the Enron-induced energy crisis. But this time it probably came through a more “natural” means. The heat wave that has sent the mercury topping over one hundred degrees for a couple of weeks probably also caused excessive use of electricity resulting in a strain on the supplies. It hit my area of SoCal yesterday and we were part of the inevitable “rolling blackouts”. We were without power for more than twenty four hours. Can you imagine it? Read the rest of this entry »

    WordPress 2.0.3 Upgrade - It’s a Breeze!

    25th June 2006

wordpress.JPGIt probably took more time to put this post together than it did to download, upload and upgrade the database!

There are some minor performance enhancements, so it might be worth it for you to also upgrade your sites if you are using WordPress.

    Online Library

    25th June 2006

    library.JPG
This is pretty cool. A few years ago I decided to catalog my books. So I searched high and low for a good personal library program and could not really find one. Finally I downloaded an older program written in an obsolete version of a database fourth generation language. It worked well as a catalog (sorta) but it was not very friendly and was rather difficult to maintain.

Then, today, browsing Phil Baker’s blog, I found the LibraryThing. It is a wonderful web thingy. You can use it to catalog your books, what you’re reading, and you can even link to your reviews. What is more, you can also share with others and see who are reading or have the same books as you. It’s also quite addictive! Which means, good for bloggers, espeically those who are avid readers. And, of course, booklovers! :)
