National Clean Off Your Desk Day
9th January 2006
Did you know that today is National Clean Off Your Desk Day?
I didn’t either!
But, someone sent me a very helpful email to let me know that the second TuesdayMonday (sorry, the email said Tuesday, but it seems that it is supposed to be Monday) of every January is indeed the day to take a special holiday from your regular work and organize your desk. Now, how did they know I needed this? Although the picture you see with this post is not my desk, mine is almost as bad! At least in terms of needing to hunt for things! And don’t even try to open my drawers ok!
The advice from the article is quite helpful too:
First, clear off your desk and sort everything into separate boxes, keeping “like” things together. Label boxes according to the type of items or action to be taken: Supplies, Magazines, Newspapers, To Donate, To Store, To File, etc. These steps can be followed as often as necessary. We recommend that you “schedule” appointments with yourself to get organized frequently. Fifteen minutes at the end of each day can save you from wasting hours searching for lost items later.
