The “Do” Quotes
2nd November 2005
I was talking to my son today and we were going through a few of the famous “do” quotes:
“Do to others what you would have them do to you.” - Jesus
“Do not to others what you do not want done to yourself” - Confucius
Then we decided to go look for other “do” quotes, and found some interesting ones, for instance:
“…do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.” Abraham Lincoln
I like this very much so I’d like to reproduce it in its entire context: “We shall match your capacity to inflict suffering by our capacity to endure suffering. We will meet your physical force with soul force. Do to us what you will and we will still love you…. But be assured that we’ll wear you down by our capacity to suffer, and one day we will win our freedom. We will not only win freedom for ourselves; we will appeal to your heart and conscience that we will win you in the process, and our victory will be a double victory.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
