Dad, Is Grandma in Heaven?

When my mom passed away, my entire family was affected, our faith shaken to the core, and unspeakable pain and suffering surge through our souls. Questions intermingled with tears flooded over us night and day.
“Is Grandma in heaven?” my kids asked.
I remember hesitating with my answer, unsure of it myself. I was not sure if Mom had actually made any commitment to Christ.
“Yes!” my wife would insist, almost determined that she had to be in heaven and that God cannot leave her to suffer in the agonies of hell. But still the children wanted an answer from me, “Dad, is Grandma in heaven?”
