How can a Buddhist be Christian?

Recently, one of my commenters asked me, "How is someone both a Buddhist and a Christian at the same time?" to my suggestion that we need to start to think about other religions not as antithetical to Christianity but as being possibly compatible with the gospel.
Perhaps that is too radical a way to think.
After all, we like to think of ours as the true religion while others are false. I challenged this way of thinking in a previous post, or at least cast doubt on the assumption that we are always practicing true religion just because we verbalize adherence to certain creedal statements or beliefs. I believe I have biblical support for my suspicions.
